Stony Brook University
School of Journalism

Stony Brook, NY

This Stony Brook facility, on two floors of the Frank Melville Library, provides 4,200 square feet of interactive workspace for journalism students to attend print, online and broadcast classes, and produce work across multimedia platforms of audio, video and text.

We teamed with consultant and newsroom system designer Harlan Neugeboren of Stamford, Connecticut, to create the ‘Newsroom of the Future,’ featuring Apple workstations in re-configurable desks, theatrical lighting, ceiling-hung monitors with continuous news feeds and a central teaching station on one level.

On a lower level, there are additional workstations equipped for digital video and on-line editing, a conference area, and a ‘flash studio’ and mini-control room for broadcast training.
