Scott Avenue Transit Station
St. Louis, MO
The new Scott Avenue Transit Station is located at the intersection of one of the city’s busiest bus routes along Grand Avenue and the MetroLink transit station serving Saint Louis University and the Grand Center Arts District. At the lower level, a new transit plaza links bus and light rail riders, pedestrians, and bicyclists. A rich, curving paving pattern and illuminated sculptures animate the plaza.
At the upper level along Grand Avenue, a new contemporary steel bus shelter with a “butterfly” roof protects riders from the elements. The upper and lower levels are linked with a contemporary steel stair with perforated metal guards and precast concrete treads as well as an elevator tower clad with curtain wall and stainless steel panels. A bowed perforated stainless steel screen wall partially shields the stair from the elements and provides a grand civic gesture to the architectural composition, attracting the attention of approaching MetroLink passengers.
The design of this project was completed on time and construction cost was under budget.
