Museum & Cultural Center and Carver Branch Library

Austin, TX

Lawrence Group served as design architect and architect of record for the 6,500-sf library expansion and as museum programming and museum design consultant to Carter Design Associates for the new 25,000-sf museum and cultural center.

The center is the first African American neighborhood museum in the state, serving the public for 22 years. The new facility includes core and traveling exhibition galleries, collection and conservation space, a community theater, and educational space. The library addition provides new, improved library space for expanded public programs, particularly adding room for community meeting spaces; separate adult, children’s & youth services; computer technology; and staff support spaces.

The Museum and Cultural Center has been designed according to LEED® standards.
