East Hampton Residence

Overview

Challenge

Inspired by the client’s passion for holistic living and wellness, the project was designed to transform a classic East Hampton modern house environment with a variety of traditional living spaces to an open loft concept where the spaces all flowed together, creating a blissful aesthetic uniformity while maintaining elements from the existing space.

Solution

A new curved stair tower, main stair and vertical full-height spire were added to allow the free flow of space throughout the house. Oversized custom sliding glass panels facing the ocean dissolve the line between inside and outside. Artisan interior finishes include custom Venetian plaster, antique Bourgogne limestone and reclaimed white oak throughout. The house is clad in vertical cedar siding and has exterior decks on three levels, the largest shaded by a retractable fabric awning supported with yachting rigging, spars and masts.
