Challenge

At SSM St. Mary’s Hospital – Jefferson City, Lawrence Group was challenged with creating a new landscape plan for this 110-acre greenfield site that not only integrates sustainable practices but also promotes healthy activity and showcases a custom-made Stela Maris statue.

Solution

Creating a walking trail to encourage activity, Lawrence Group also worked with a native wildflower seed specialist to develop a Missouri tall grass and wildflower prairie mix that wraps around the campus. This sustainable approach reduces overall maintenance and brings a natural beauty to the site while attracting pollinators and wildlife. The landscaping also preserves an existing tree canopy, introduces a new generation of native trees, and creates a large outdoor patio space featuring the Stella Maris statue. A green roof is also located off the labor and delivery wing of the hospital.
