3 Pieces of Advice for Future Conference Attendees

I can’t express enough the wealth of knowledge that the Midwest Digital Marketing Conference provides. I’d like to give a shout out to UMSL Business for putting on such a rich learning experience, and give a thank you to Spectrum Reach, the conference sponsor. If you haven’t already, take a look at my latest post, “Top Takeaways from the 2017 Midwest Digital Marketing Conference,” which outline the key pieces of knowledge I learned from the 2017 conference. Thinking of attending next year? Here is my first-timer advice:

  1. Jam pack your schedule

I’d say that this conference is a fair price for what you get, but you can make the most of your investment by not skimping out on sessions. I attended a presentation in every possible session and felt that I took away a wealth of knowledge. Each presentation covered a diverse range of topics that you won’t soak up if you are charging your phone in the hallway. Get in there and learn!

  1. Be efficient with your note taking

It may sound silly for a digital marketing conference, but I find that I take my best notes with good ole- fashioned pen and paper. I can write much faster and retain information better when I handwrite my notes. Attendees of the 2017 Midwest Digital Marketing Conference receive the presentation files for all the sessions at the conference. This does not include audio, so be mindful while taking notes and jot down the key points that are being said, not just what is on the screen.

  1. Pack snacks and water

If you’re making the most of the available sessions, your schedule will be full. The MDMC team provides several stations stocked with water, cookies, croissants, coffee and tea, and at lunch time, the food trucks offered delicious treats and ice cold sodas; however the lines grew very long as the morning sessions let out. I found that packing a snack and water helped with staying alert and refreshed during the back-to-back presentations.

Hope this helps and inspires you to feel ready to head to this conference and many more in the next year. Get out there, network and learn!
