Challenge
Repositioning the former Hard Rock Café at Union Station required both an interior and exterior overhaul. The challenge was to take the well-known destination and transform it into a new brand with its own identity. To do so, the concept would need to offer visitors a modern, Instagram-worthy experience while celebrating Union Station’s historic past.
Solution
The Soda Fountain offers a modern-meets-retro diner and candy shop experience, designed to appeal to all ages. Historic details including a newly poured terrazzo entry floor, marble-inspired surfaces, marquee lighting and custom mosaic floor tiles bring a nostalgic feel to the whimsical concept.
The Candy Shop’s blend of modern displays and vintage elements differentiate the retail environment from the diner. Strategically used pastel mints, pistachio greens and cotton candy pinks bring warmth and energy to the reimagined attraction.
From interior design and environmental branding to menu design, server attire and signature Freak Shakes, this cohesive, curated experience is a one-of-a-kind destination at Union Station.
