The University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL) selected Lawrence Group for its full interior renovation of the historic 100,000-square-foot Benton Hall building that forms the central hub of the Benton Stadler Science Complex. Integration of a modern mechanical system and wayfinding were two priorities for the project.

After 18 months, students and faculty returned to Benton Hall with its renovated lecture rooms, classrooms, labs and faculty offices. The design team worked through multiple options with the owner before selected a custom fabricated mechanical system. Lawrence Group worked closely with chemistry students to develop a pattern of a caffeine molecule that was transformed into a large wall tile design in the main corridor, providing wayfinding.
