On Aug. 16, Texas State University broke ground on Live Oak Hall, a new film sound stage and TV studio facility in San Marcos, TX.
The $10 million facility will serve approximately 600 students and faculty of the College of Fine Arts and Communication. The 10,291-square-foot building will feature a film sound stage, TV studio, recording classroom, editing lab and a Foley room for sound effects. Live Oak Hall will also include green screen and sound design technology, and broadband fiber for live broadcast streaming.
The building is a response to the university’s growing film program in the Department of Theatre and Dance. Live Oak Hall will also provide the School of Journalism and Mass Communication with a dedicated television studio to teach video production and television news courses, and help it maintain its stature as a professionally accredited program.
Lawrence Group is providing architecture, interior design and specialized media/broadcast design services. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2022.
